Distance Learning
Distance Learning
Welcome to Distance Learning in TK and K. All PVSD teachers have synchronous (in real time) and asynchronous Independent Work experiences in their distance learning classes. Our distance learning will include instruction through Zoom, video links, or tutorials and will be coupled with independent work that builds on this instruction.
Please look at out Home page for class times by clicking on the Home button on the left. Also, check out the PVSD website: https://www.pleasantvalleysd.org for info. on tips for positive distance learning.
The goal of distance learning is to help keep your child engaged in learning and to move forward with the learning process while making sure students maintain their skills. I will be providing various forms of feedback through the distance learning process as we move forward. My classroom website is linked to the front page of our school website for additional helpful information to have a successful school year.
I realize that this is a challenging time for you and your family. Distance Learning is a new teaching format for all of us, and it will take time for both teachers, students and parents to adjust and be comfortable with the new structure. Parents/guardians, and students will have questions, and we will endeavor to provide support. Please feel free to contact me through email: spereksta@pleasantvalleysd.org to ensure the learning activities are being completed, or if clarification is needed.
IMPORTANT TIP...the week's Daily Independent Work will be posted on Seesaw and will be sent to you via e-mail each week.
Absences: If your child is absent, look on on your email or on Seesaw for their assignments. Your child will be given one extra day to complete the assignments, for each day they are absent. For example if they are absent 3 days, they will have an extra 3 days to complete and submit their assignment.
I am providing lessons and activities that are California state standards aligned and supported by the adopted curriculum and supplemental standards- aligned materials for PVSD. Throughout our time together in class via Zoom, I will be instucting and helping students while observing how they are progressing in their studies, how they are with their fine motor abilities and pencil grip, and their gross motor abilities during our dance and movement activities. I encourage and provide ways for all of my students to feel connected to meaningful learning with their friends!
ZOOMING ALONG...Zoom lasts one month and then the teacher makes a New meeting with a New address for the meetings. Please keep an eye out for this in your email at the end of each month. Please review the Zoom guide on the PVSD website: www.pleasantvalleysd.org under the heading of: Distance Learning Protocols for Students and Parents/Guardians to ensure positive Zoom sessions with our classmates.
Also, please review the Virtual Classroom Rules poster that was sent via email the beginning of school. If you would like another copy, email me, spereksta@pleasantvalleysd.org and I will be happy to send it to you again.
Thank you, Parents, for ALL you are doing to make this new adventure an exciting and positive experience for all.
Most sincerely and warmly,
Mrs. Pereksta
